The short version

01

Prescription only

In the US, these medicines require a prescription from a licensed clinician.

02

A clinician decides

Suitability depends on your health history, medicines and goals.

03

Side effects are possible

Digestive side effects are common, and some situations rule them out entirely.

What GLP-1 is

A bowl of vegetables, chickpeas and greens on a wooden table

GLP-1 is a hormone; GLP-1 medicines act on its receptors.

The hormone is involved in regulating blood sugar and appetite. Prescription medicines that act on GLP-1 receptors are used for certain health conditions under clinical care.

In the US, these medicines require a prescription, can cause side effects and are not suitable for everyone. A licensed clinician must assess whether they are appropriate for an individual. If you already take medication, keep following your clinician’s advice.

In the body

  1. 01

After eating, the gut releases GLP-1.

  2. 02

It helps prompt insulin when blood sugar rises.

  3. 03

It slows how fast the stomach empties.

  4. 04

It sends fullness signals to the brain.

A quick timeline

  1. 1980s

The GLP-1 hormone is identified by researchers.

  2. 2005

The first FDA-approved GLP-1 medicine becomes available for type 2 diabetes.

  3. 2014 onward

Some are approved for chronic weight management in adults, alongside diet and physical activity.

  4. 2020s

Dual GIP/GLP-1 medicines arrive, acting on two hormone pathways.

Forms and duration

01

Weekly injections

Given once a week under the skin, as directed by a prescriber.

02

Daily injections

Given once a day under the skin, as directed by a prescriber.

03

Tablets (for some uses)

A by-mouth form exists for some approved uses and has its own instructions.

These medicines are generally used long-term with regular follow-up. Which form, if any, is a clinician's decision.

Side effects to know about

CommonNeeds medical attention
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Stomach discomfort
  • Pancreatitis
  • Gallbladder problems
  • Kidney problems related to dehydration
  • Low blood sugar when combined with some other medicines

Some GLP-1 medicines carry an FDA boxed warning about thyroid C-cell tumors and are not used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN 2). They are generally not used during pregnancy. Not a complete list.

Spotting unsafe offers online

The FDA has warned about counterfeit, unapproved and improperly compounded GLP-1 products sold online. Be cautious if you see any of these red flags:

  • Sold without a prescription
  • No licensed pharmacy named
  • “Research use only” labels
  • Prices that seem too good to be true
  • No clinician involved

Ask your questions

You may send an information request to Simply Creative Store LLC. Share how you prefer to be contacted, without including medical details.

Explore the next step

The operator may respond with general information and explain how to seek a consultation. Sending a request does not establish eligibility for treatment.

Speak with a clinician

A licensed clinician may review your health history and discuss options. Any treatment is managed by a qualified healthcare professional, not Evolibeauty.

Who decides

A licensed clinician—not a store or an information form—decides whether treatment is appropriate. That decision depends on an individual consultation, health history and discussion of risks. Requesting information does not mean a prescription will follow.

Before you talk to a clinician

  • Your own questions, written down

  1. Is this appropriate for me?
  2. What side effects should I watch for?
  3. How long would I take it?
  4. What happens if I stop?

  6. How does it interact with my current medicines?
